2011 Tri State District Conference

It is with great pleasure that we issue the Official Call to the Tri State District Conference. Last year, we began positive work toward building our district and establishing many key initiatives and we are eager to assemble and continue that effort. We look forward to the exchange of ideas, the fellowship, and renewing our collective commitment to excellence within Alpha.

The details are as follows:
February 11 – 12, 2011 Las Vegas, Nevada.
Just blocks off the Las Vegas Strip, at the upscale and fashionable Platinum Hotel. We have chosen to follow the theme of our upcoming 63rd Annual Western Region Convention, “Leading For Tomorrow.”

Western Region Competitions & Awards
We are very excited this year to award districts, brothers and chapters the opportunity to win monetary prizes for their participation in the regional competitions. Each award provides support to each of our winners to represent the region at the national level in Chicago, IL. Districts that have brothers competing in 80% or 7 out of 9 of the region’s competitions below (including Ms B&G) will receive $250.00 for their district budget.

Districts with representation in all of the competitions will receive a $300.00 allotment for their district budget. Winners will receive half of the award at the regional convention and the other half once they have registered to compete at the General Convention. For all college level competitions the region will sponsor one room night at the General Convention’s designated host hotel in each college level category.

The awards for the competitions are as follows:
1. Western Region Step Show First Place $1,000.00 Second Place: $250.00
2. College Chapter of the Year $1,000.00
3. Alumni Chapter of the Year $500.00
4. College Brother of the Year $500.00
5. Alumni Brother of the Year $500.00
6. Belford V. Lawson Oratorical $500.00
7. Collegiate Scholars Bowl $500.00
8. Charles H. Wesley Brotherhood $500.00
9. Ms. Black & Gold Pageant Regional Trophies, Flowers (Winner will receive a special package from the region for national competition).
